Joy Based Psychotherapy
The following two statements are excerpted from an accompanying page of this web site, Enhancement of Life Aspects:
In my opinion, the Abraham materials, Conversations with God and A Course in Miracles are an -- elegant trilogy of new scriptures. Each of these three thought systems are: 1) Joy Based, i.e., in contrast to conventional illness-based psychotherapy and fear-based religious teachings, 2) internally consistent, i.e., their respective linguistic deep structures are philosophically consistent, 3) complimentary and complementary, i.e., aligned and coherent, similar to the energy of a laser, and 4) spiritually transmitted, i.e., the transmitter is not the author. Of these three Joy Based Scriptures, the Abraham thought system is psychologically and spiritually a) the easiest for most newcomers to comprehend [especially if the student is more of an audio learner than a visual learner, since most of the Abraham materials are on audio tapes], b) the easiest for most newcomers to engage into experientially and c) the fastest for most newcomers to manifest new outcomes. Therefore, the remainder of this web page on Joy Based Psychotherapy will focus on the Abraham thought system. If you have not already done so, please assess the Patient Information Brief which is also a page in this web site, Abraham Speaks. Knowing the content of this Brief will make the remainder of this document easier to understand. The "first cause" of each of our presence in this lifetime and in the Universe is -- spirit. Synonyms are: Holy Spirit, Higher Self and Inner Being; or aspect of God, Source or Universal Consciousness; or Soul or Soul of Our Being. Inner Being is the term Abraham uses, and it seems to be the most psychologically simple and communicative of these synonymous terms. Our Inner Being communicates with us constantly -- through our feelings. Feelings, not words, are the medium and the message of spirit. If we are feeling some aspect of Joy, we are well connected to our Inner Being. If we are feeling some form of fear [worry, anxiousness, depression, anger, jealousy, etc.], we are separated, or to some degree pinched off, from our Inner Being or Source. By dwelling upon our past-and-now problems and illness, as conventional psychotherapy does, rather than dwelling upon some aspect of a now-and-future Joy -- we make our past a continuing now. Thereby, we "attract" [as in Law of Attraction] a continuing non-joyous experience; and we do not "allow" [as in Law of Allowing] the power of the Now, i.e., the power of our Inner Being to "create" [as in Law of Deliberate Creation] a Joyous present and future. We were entrained to manifest through ego struggle and doing. However, our Inner Being can manifest our desires much more efficiently, effectively and abundantly -- but only if we be in a Joyous state of "allowing", rather than doing. We chose our own reality -- consciously or non-consciously. In each moment, we can chose what we want to feel. If we are not feeling Joy -- we can chose again. We always have the "freedom to chose" a better thought or vision. What we are thinking or visioning, and what we are feeling, are always a match; and the thinking / feeling vibration or tone we create determines the manifestation -- illness or health. Well Being is consciously allowing Joy, Freedom and Growth. Abraham teaches: the basis of your life is Freedom; the objective of your life is Joy; and the result of your life is Growth. Well Being is our birthright. For example, in a recent Abraham-Hicks Workshop [Ashland, Oregon; 05.16.00] a physician stated that he felt that a "transition" was needed in his thinking and a "different way" was needed in his understanding of illness; and Abraham responded:
Until now we have not had a holistic and internally consistent conceptualization of psychological health and healing; with this elegant trilogy of new scriptures -- we do. Joy, so be it. For more content, see my new book on Holistic Healing and Joy Based Psychotherapy; it is titled ABE STORIES. |
